Psu smell

hi all. I have a very chemical smell coming from my psu. Is this a bad thing?
it's a ocz modx 600w psu.

Umm, that could be bad...was it on for a long period of time?

I would probably take the PSU out and set it on some cardboard near a place which has no value, not by your Ferrari or Porsche 911. It could be that a capacitor got messed up and is oozing or about to "pop". That is probably what the smell is.

Or, if the PSU is new, it might just be some burn-in smell. Depends on how strong it is too I suppose. New components that get hot do tend to smell like warm plastic.
