You won't see anything until OS X has loaded, that's how it is with AMD graphics.
Hello, I tried R9 380 with I3 6100, I connect R9 380 with monitor via HDMI, press the power button, black screen, then try to press enter, after 10 seconds, the osx just come out, is this how it supposed to work? all black screen even can't see clover bootloader?

Have also problems with Sierra Sapphire nitro R9 380 4GB :
My success install on Yosemite with Amd Sapphire nitro R9 380 4gb after many troubles in Sierra ( dual boot) :
Mobo H81ME34 - i3 4150 - 16 Gb ram hyperfurry - GPU sapphire radeon R9380 nitro 4 GB
- Usb installer with multibeast an recommended seettings
- Post install run unibeast : audio ALC887 - Lan RTL 8111 v2 - AHCI data driver - 3 rd party USB 3,0 - 7/8/9 support - increase max usb port - Fake SMC 6 / Fake SMC plugin - boot with dart=0 graphicsenabler=yes darkwake=0 (Ati true , Intel true , nvidia false in config. plist no patch, no frame buffer or port patch)

boot time : 30"

after booting :

About this mac : Amd R9 XXX - 4096 ram

Io registry :
Amd 9000 controller - iofbversion 1.1.42 - string 0x69391002
Amd support
Amd tonga graphics accelerator
Amd X4000 vadriver - Amd x4000 glDriver

All works fine with full acceleration

My display monitor (only) 1600 x 900 HL 205 Hanns.G
Color profil is Ok

Playing games ok.

But in Sierra it's very difficult :

Install with same up options :

after install :
only reboot with x safe mode

for booting normally :

have replaced all HD 4000 kexts and framebuffers kexts with yosemite kexts

boot time : 30"

but :

my GPU is now R9 285 with 5M ram

no full acceleration and no more goods graphics experience...

In facts i think after read severals posts here that this GPU is not full supported in Sierra

(is my first reply in forum )

In El Capitan and Sierra it's necessary to configure the Intel iGPU as primary video adapter (or use other means of preventing the AMD GPU form getting initialized during boot phase), otherwise the AMD accelerator kext will panic once it's loaded.

Additionally I'd suggest to disable any AMD injection, it shouldn't be necessary. Otherwise you'd have to provide a matching framebuffer personality or make your own one.

Thanks' for your reply Fl0r!an :

What does it's mean in my config.plist ? (i'm not sur to have understood ? )

Okey Fl0r!an :
I'll try this and reply

I have tried :

I may boot normally :

But only If i replace the following kexts Amdframebuffer, Amdradeodriver, AmdX4000, AmdX4000GLdriver, Amdsupport with Yosemite kexts

But with the following original kexts Sierra : Amdframebuffer, Amdradeodriver, AmdX4000, AmdX4000GLdriver, Amdsupport

Noway : suck at booting

NB : with IGP 4400 enable and GPU disable : all it's OK , before that had a chipper Nvidia Gforce 730 2GB ddr5 : all was ok and i could install Nvidia driver :but this GPU is not good for gaming just for multimedia.

I buy the Sapphire radeon nitro R9 380 for the price : 99 euros ( about 82 USD exclude VTA)

This GPU is very performant for gaming and graphic BIM , perhaps i may only use Yosemite witch is quite good and stable.

I have installed in Yosemite many logiciels : Office 2016 , Photoshop , Draftsight, for my job.
