Problem starting Steam

I DID IT


1.Find in applications Steam.app and right mouse click
2.click to second option( i don't know how its called in English)
3. contents-macos-steam_osx
4.run a one copy - its hangs its normal
5.don't close it
6. run second copy of steam_osx and login))

login process was very hard for me i had very long response- but you can do it) then you login close both windows and stert steam normally)

Simpler yet; In a terminal window using terminal.app, run the following commands:
sudo -s
<enter the root password when prompted>
open /Applications/Steam.app
<close your terminal window>


Congratulations! You're done Enter your login info, and next time you login you'll suffer no more.

I stumbled upon the same problem. The problem is based on that my file system is case-sensitive (which is apparently uncommon on mac systems, e.g. compared to linux).

What I did was creating a DiskImage that has a case-insensitive filesystem and symlink a newly created folder there to ~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam
Then reinstall steam (which will install steam and its games on the diskimage) and everything works.
