Problem after updating to 10.8.5

After the last 10.8.5 update my audio no longer worked and the audio icon was grayed-out on the desktop. I removed the AudioAUUC.kext (System/Library/Extensions) that was added from my last 10.8.5 update. It has restored my audio to normal.
