Quoting this guy from this thread

What can a Hackintosh do that a real Mac can't?

I'll start off.

1. My Hackintosh can be powered up with WOL.
Macs can only be waken from sleep with WOL. They can't be turned on remotely when in a power-off state unless the Mac supports Lights Out Management (LOM). LOM is only available in XServes and Mac Pros. Score one for the Hackintoshes.

how exactly do we do this? I have a Hackintosh running 10.8.3 that runs perfectly... I am able to wake on lan in Windows but when I switch HD to boot from the mac, I can no longer wake on lan when powered off. any ideas? Work perfect on windows, do i need lights out management or what? Who has gotten it working?

Same issue for me.

If the computer is shut down from Windows 7,
Wake-On-Lan will work 10/10.

But I shut down from OSX, the machine power off and automatically power back on.
(I'm on a Gigabyte UD5H MoBo with "Wake on Lan" enabled)

What could be a proper way to power off from OSX ?
Can someone cast some light on this ?

Nothing?

Sad....

Hi, I have exactly the same issue.
Running Mojave and IntelMausiEthernet 2.4.0 ktext

Does anybody have a solution for that?

Its always working when shutdown via windows or via holding the power button.
When I shutdown via OSx WOL is then not working.

Leaving it here if it helps someone - If you have WOL setup properly in BIOS then to get WOL working the change the following 2 lines in the source code and recompile the IntelMausiEthernet driver.

File>IntelMausiEthernet.cpp
wolCapable = false; > wolCapable = true;
wolActive = false; > wolActive = false;
