PCIe Firewire card in to PCIe 16x Slot running at 4x

Hi,

One question.

My PCIe slots are blocked by the VGA card, and the next free slots is a PCIe 16x running at 4x speed. Can I use that slot to insert my Firewire PCIe card ?

As much as I know are backward compatible but not sure this one since the PCIe slots are smaler than PCIe 16x

Yes you can run a x16 slot with 1x,4x,8x and of course 16x even if it runs at 4x
