Yeah, but I have been using this display port / HDMI combo for quite a while now without issues. Not willing to kick out the old Cinema Display before it dies. It has a an companion that seemed to die a few years ago. It was that notoric puny triac for the power supply, and I managed to replace it with a modern part, to get it back to life.

Because of BIOS? I'm sure you can get in to BIOS somehow... Try pulling one stick of RAM. Or if you have another Coffee Lake CPU, try swapping CPUs. These actions may cause the BIOS pop up.

Maybe try booting from OpenCore EFI. Then clear NVRAM at the OpenCore boot menu.
