Since Mountain Lion will ONLY be a downloadable. New users will need to purchase a Snow Leopard DVD, install, then purchase Mountain Lion in Snow Leopard.

No problems there one would think,…..until Apple stops selling the retail SL disc,…….

What happens then,…?

Buy a few copies now from Apple, then wait until Apple does not longer sell it, and make a killing profit on ebay. I wish I had that kind of money to buy at least 20 copies.

I guess this is upgrade price... what will be the cost for fresh install ?

1. Buy Snow Leopard Retail DVD: $30
2. Install Snow Leopard and upgrade to 10.6.6
3. Buy Mountain Lion App: $20

Total Cost: $50

If you buy OS X Lion USB Thumb Drive (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD256Z/A) it's not necessary to buy Snow Leopard DVD for a fresh install no ? You install directly Lion with USB Thumb Drive and Unibeast ?

No, you will need access to a working Mac/Hack as it is NOT bootable on a hack.

Folks,
I posted the options for those that don't have a working hackintosh, yet, here: viewtopic.php?p=377330#p377330 But, it's worth repeating.

Reference: The UniBeast Installation Guide on the tonymacx86 Blog.
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/10/unibeast-install-mac-os-x-lion-using.html

You will need to have access to a Mac (friend, etc.) running Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later. Once on the Mac, go to the Mac App Store, create your own account, download the Install Lion app, and create the UniBeast USB thumb drive. Only do Steps 1 & 2 in the UniBeast Installation Guide on the other Mac.

If you don't have access to a Mac or another Hackintosh, you'll have to install Snow Leopard first. You can get it from the Apple Store for $29.00 USD.

Then, once Snow Leopard is installed (see the last link in my signature block for the tonymacx86 SL Installation guide), you can update to SL 10.6.6 and sign into the Mac App Store and download Lion.

Update: tonymacx86 has simplified his UniBeast installation guide: Simplest Mac OS X Installation Guide

I recommend you print out each guide you use and check off each step so you don't accidentally miss a step.

Good Luck and Have fun.
