Just realized while trying to use some shaders on Minecraft, that Minecraft is using OpenGL 2.1?? From what I understand it's the "compatibility version of OpenGL that OSX defaults to under certain situations..? I downloaded the OpenGL Extension viewer and ran the tests... it Recognizes OpenGL up ver 4.1 and passes all the tests with flying colors. It's obviously there in the NVIDIA drivers... so why can't I get Minecraft to pick up anything but 2.1 the compatibility version???? Any help or pointers would be GREATLY appreciated :)

Although I appreciate the help, I've already seen this thread and it's just a developer telling a guy Minecraft "doesn't require" openGL above 2.1. That really doesn't help. As is shown with Linux and Windows, the java version is able to use openGL 4. OSX is able to allow apps to use openGL4 as the openGL app clearly displays. I'm hoping to find someone with some idea as to how to trigger using opengl 4 with java (in this case particularly Minecraft) as my GPU can more than handle it and the web drivers seem to support it as well.
