I solved my issues on 10.6.8 by applying the above mentioned settings and changing from a LG dvd to the sony optiarc. And it continues to autosleep in lion. But just once as mentioned.

I have the same issue on older UD3P

Had to apply AppleRTC patch to fix CMOS reset on sleep, but machine autosleeps exactly once on restart - forcesleep is perfect. Prior to 10.6.8/Lion my machine was 100% perfect autosleep and sleep

I have the same issue and same board as hamoja but on 10.6.7

Somehow - but just somehow - I am happy to see further reports of this issue coming in.
This indicates that there must be something wrong addressing some kind of parameter related to sleep, something that is not correctly reset on wake up.
This feeds my hope that there will be someone who cares and is able to correct this, maybe by a DSDT patch or kext modification.

ok - so i think autosleep breaks when i wake via power button. If I use bt mouse it wakes and autosleeps fine (multiple times)

In the meanwhile I gave up finding a vanilla solution.
Using PleaseSleep gives me the expected sleep functionality.

I´ll keep searching for a native solution, but for now this is all (and the best) I can get...

My Mobo was X58A-UD3R ver2 and I have the same problem.
My BD player was Sony BD RW BWU-500S.
If I put a DVD or CD in it, auto sleep works perfect.
Otherwise, I need to use Pleasesleep to make my system sleep.
Seems the problem is relate to the DVD/BD player.
