I'm looking for a tower for about 400$ . The hp6300/8300 i7 3770 is around that price but my big issue is that I need to use a 980gtx that requires two 8-pin connectors and as far as I know, only the z420s have a decent power supply even though I'd need to use power adapters. I like how the z420 are quiet and deliver quite a bit of power with the e5-1650 v2!

Someone offered to me a i7-3770k system with "gaming specs" case/PS/etc. It looks really nice but the mobo is a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H rev 1.1. I'm scared it will be a pain to get this mobo working well in Sierra or if it could ever be upgraded to Mojave. Any tips?

Older motherboard works best with macOS and GA-Z77X-UD5H is hackintosh compatible.

This thread is outdated so you will need to follow the current guide in setting up your computer.

This is the current guide and follow instructions. It should work.

Also, GTX 980 is not supported at the moment. Nvidia web driver for Mojave hasn't been released yet. I would suggest getting Radeon card especially 570/580 if you want to run it natively without tinkering with drivers for it.

I started comparing the i7 3770k with a i3 8100 and now I'm thinking it doesn't make sense to get something so old...
