I'm running a nice machine with a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H as motherboard and a 3,4GHz i7 processor, but the graphics card died (it was a GTX 650). Seems like it isn't easy to find new ones with a low budget and I'd prefer not purchasing used ones.
Any chance to get a new and cheap graphics card, such as a GT 1030 or GTX 1050? Eg:

Do you know if one of these could work in my current build without issues?

Yes, with the additional Nvidia Web drivers. You'll also want to be on High Sierra if not already.

Thanks for the info, I'll look for the instructions (or this is as simple as downloading+installing the latest drivers fron the Nvidia web page?).

So, upgrading to High Sierra is also a good idea? I always try to skip as most upgrades as possible, as they use to be painful and very time-consuming. Across the years I've faced black screens, lost sound, etc.

Use your HD4000 graphics and install UEFI. HD4000 works perfectly with High Sierra don't hesitate to use it..

You need High Sierra 10.13.6 for the best graphics performance with a 1030 or 1050 card and at least Sierra 10.12.4 for them to work at all. Download HS today before Apple pulls it for Mojave and it's not available anymore.
