Okay, this is no biggie for me really. If It's best for me to wait till El Capi officially comes out, thats cool with me.

But for now, I do get this KP when I try to install EC. I did the USB stick method as described. But I am thinking because my system is a 1366 I need to change something perhaps.

Again, not super important, but wondering if anybody has seen this before.

This is as far as I can get no matter what I try.

But, Yosemite works like a charm on my system so I cannot complain one bit. I'll wait for an official El Crapitan release, but I like to read up on the workarounds you guys are trying out.

Same issue. I even tried restoring a working ElCapitan Latest Beta 15A243d on a spare hard disk and tried to boot. Looks like an issue with X58 Board / LGA1366 chipsets.

My rig

ASUS Rampage II Extreme LGA1366 Intel X58 DDR3-1600 ATX Motherboard
with
Intel Core i7 Processor i7-920 2.66GHz 8 MB LGA1366 CPU BX80601920

I have tried everything, various options on USB in BIOS but no budding from the panic. Tried SMBIOS MacPro4,1 and MacPro5,1 which are closest to the board

Anyone have success beyond this on this type of board.

Yosemite works perfectly almost OOB

Ok folks continuation of my last post

Finally got my X58 working

Got two flags under DSDT > Fixes changed

FixHPET_0010 is True
FixIPIC_0040 is True

All other flags under DSDT>Fixes are set to False

Everything else remains the same on my config.plist. Also upgraded to 3259 but i think it may not make a difference. On 3259 everything loads from the EFI kexts directory. So Fakesmc etc can be in the place we had it in Yosemite and no need for them being in L/E or S/L/E anymore. Also, i did not use Rtvariables, BooterConfig or CsrActiveConfig in the config.

Good luck for X79 / x58 builds :)
