I have been using my desktop running Lion till now Sierra very stable and it still performs great for my daily use. It also has a (quite old) GTX 670, powering 3 monitors (2x DVI, 1x HDMI). Since I bought my MacBook Pro 2017 I have been kinda annoyed by the (now) unsharp Apple 23" Cinema displays, so I was thinking to replace them with 1x 4K display. The display port on the GTX 670 should be able to support 4K @ 60Hz, but will macOS Sierra support it as well? Personally I don't feel much about 4K resolution running @ 30Hz or less.

Yes it should.

I am using DP port 4k@60hz on a ViewSonic VX2475Smhl-4K monitor without problem El Captain

Ok, I bought my display and it works :) I only had to hold the Option/Alt key to be able to select the native resolution 3840x2160@60Hz resolution.

Ok, I seem to have understood scaling wrong. The settings are by default already 4K@60Hz, but scaled to 1080P for bigger letters and so on. Still crystal clear, I can really recommend the LG 27UD69-W display!!
