Blu Ray drives are not very OS X friendly. I would recommend getting a cheap Sony Optiarc drive you can find here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827118039 and then getting an external Blu Ray player/burner so you can just unplug when you're running OS X.

Sweet! If you haven't any problems with the Pioneer then there's your answer nOOB. If you want to venture out and test other products that's good as well. You can add to the knowledge database of what does and does not work or you can just stick with what is known to already work.

If you don't mind longtom, could you point us to your exact model?

Thanx for all the advice. I am hopefully going to buy my bits so I am hoping that I have a smooth journey.

The LG BH08 also works - I have used Burn to create cd's with it and have no problem.
It also sleeps with no problems - see my rig on user builds viewtopic.php?f=54&t=8524
