Noob building first hackintosh

Hey guys, I am attempting to build my first hackintosh and while I am more versed in computers than most, I get totally lost in some of the finer points of computer terminology. I will be spending the day reading up on everything on this forum to learn what I can but when I post my proposed build it'd be great if someone could tell me if it is completely hopeless or not.
I just want to make sure everything is compatible before I buy the parts.
