No Sound on Wake from Sleep - Sound Assertion Error

Hello! I am a long-time lurker of these forums who has benefited greatly from the various posts within. I usually don't post because if I have a question, I can find the answer 99.999% of the time just by searching. ^_^

Anyways, I'm having a problem with my audio. It doesn't want to come on after I wake the computer from sleep. I have looked for days for a solution, but I can't seem to find one. Here are the messages that Console spits out at me:

Here are my specs:

Motherboard: EVGA X58 SLI 3 Motherboard (131-GT-E767-TR)
Processor: Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield
Video: Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 (non-Ti)
Audio: Onboard HD Audio (Realtek ALC892) (VendorID: 0x10ec0892)
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion

I had this issue when I was running Lion as well, and it seems to be the only issue holding me back from having a PERFECT Hackintosh (Everything else works wonderfully with little to no patches).

Any ideas?

What audio solution are you using? Are you using a dsdt? If yes, what HDEF edits?

I ended up having to settle with the Patched AppleHDA (ALC892) in Multibeast 4.6.1, with the Non-DSDT HDAEnabler (also ALC892).

I've tried multiple solutions, using DSDT only with no patched kexts, using no DSDT, editing DSDT. But the only solution that gives me sound output, no matter what, is the patched AppleHDA mentioned above.

I have a hunch that if I can properly edit the HDEF section in my DSDT, and get the sound to work without the Patched AppleHDA, then I'd have no more issues. But I seem to have completely run out of solutions as far as DSDT edits are concerned. I tried using the DSDT edits from your guide (http://legacy.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=59074&sid=ed596058b8f5608a0bdd2c1771b85555) but none of those edits seemed to work.

By the way, Thanks for taking the time to help me out.

The reason your audio doesn't work with the dsdt is the dsdt/HDEF/layout-id is wrong. All of the legacy threads are available on the new site. See Optimized AppleHDA for Realtek ALC 898 on Lion - New. When you correct the layout_id, remove S/L/E/HDAEnabler892.kext. Fix permissions and cache and restart. You'll find a proper installation is essential for avoiding audio issues.

Good luck getting audio to work without the patched AppleHDA.

THANK YOU! I was able to get my audio to work with those DSDT edits and the patched AppleHDA kext. I edited my layout-ID to read "0x7C, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00" (Under ALC892 audio guide) and it actually worked this time. That's one step in the right direction.

I'm still getting Sound assertion errors, though... Maybe this "sleep mode" thing just won't work out after all. :\

Delete the aggregate device in Audio MIDI setup. If that doesn't work, a clean install will.

I had an audio issue that I could toggle on and off by changing nothing but the system definition. Check this thread:

The issue was random pops noises, not audio issues related to sleep, but some error messages were very similar to those reported here:

I have been able to get audio working in ML using the Lion guide provided above using DSDT (HDEF) edits and a patched AppleHDA, but I too like the OP still have the problem with no audio after waking up from sleep. If possible can anybody 'sound' off on a solution? Thanks

Was HDEF in the native dsdt? If it wasn't, it is likely the BIOS has no idea it needs to wake HDEF.
