Thanks immensely for this guide, toleda.

1. No audio devices appear in System Preferences>Sound regardless of ALC audio driver installed using MultiBeast 7.2.0. Z68X-UD5-B3 calls for ALC889, but a few other ALC___ drivers were attempted singly as well
Currently using toleda's edited AppleHDA.kext
2. Yosemite 10.10.2 / Z68X-UD5-B3 /BIOS F10 /i7 2600k 3.4 /Radeon HD 6870
3. Followed toleda's steps detailed in parts I. & III. of this thread & its offshoots as best I could: http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/143752-no-audio-devices-realtek-alc-applehda-guide.html#post886726
4. IOReg/File/Save a Copy As… = verified file attached: CMYos4.ioreg
5. System/Library/Extensions/AppleHDA.kext.zip attached (toleda edited version from MultiBeast 7.2.0
6. NA
7. Console/All Messages/kernel Sound Assertions - select/Save Selection As: log entry "kernel Sound Assertions" not present on Search
Screen shots:
8. DPCIManager/Status attached: DPCIManagerStatus.png
System Information/Hardware/Audio/Intel High Definition Audio (not Devices) not attached because no content in panel
9. NA
10. Extra/org.chameleon.Boot.plist attached
DPCIManager/Misc/Boot Log attached: DPCImgrbootlog.txt
~~~~~
Chimera 4.0.1
audio worked in OS X 10.7 using Voodoo for a couple years, so main board sound component appears okay
Problem, have dsdt/AZAL; solution add dsdt/HDEF
See Post #1:
I. No Output Devices Found
2. HDEF Verification
3. If no IOReg/HDEF
2. Add dsdt/HDEF
Thanks, toleda. I redid the MultiBeast method (steps below), choosing Audio ID 1 for the Optional HDAEnabler.
Although I had in fact run this step a few times during my troubleshooting before posting here, this time it worked.
Gratefully yours,
Alpha 90
~~~~~~~~~~~
Add dsdt/HDEF, select one method and implement

MultiBeast 7.1 and newer:
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > √ ALC
plus Optional HDAEnabler (kext) > √ Audio ID: 1 (or 2) > used 1 √

this kind of work is like witchcraft... *__*
Toleda can you give me your feedback on mine please ?

1/ i have constant little Crackling Soung, and a little bit loud on high CPU usage. There is a sound like a Mario Game or Gameboy start when booting OS X, very funny.

2/ OSX 10.10.2 / ASUS X79 SABERTOOTH / BIOS 4701 / i7 3930K / HD 5770

3/ i did the Multibeast 5.5.0 method with ALC892 checked of course, with newer version of multibeast it’s just impossible the crackle sound is very loud. I have test “HDAenabler” (if a remember well) and try multiple things with differents source of informations, without better success than MB 5.5.0.

4/ attached
5/ AppleHDA kext attached.
6/ nothing else here
7/ with filter "sound assertions" in Console/All Messages, found nothing
8/ attached
9/ Verify kext-dev-mode=1 boot flag/argument
Password:
S/L/E/AppleHDA.kext is not native
Install native AppleHDA.kext
No system files were changed

10/ attached

Best regards.

I have a little bit the same problem than Qouixster. Noisy sound in background, like FM band (left output only). I can listen music, but there is always a little crackling in background. When there is no music, no sound, there is always this noise.
Here are my results, it could be great you magician find something.
1) Crackling sound on all audio ports. It seems to be linked to CPU activity. For example, if I launch Geeklbench, when CPU is full of load, sound does’nt crak. In idle or minor activity, it does.
2) 10.10.2 / ASUS P9X79 / i7 4820K / BIOS 4701 / GPU Asus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2048Mo
3) Multibeast 7.2 method.With ALC892 checked
