I have just finished a crude artwork which is going to be used as a guide to cut a 12mm wide groove into the case.

the 8 empty spaces are for positioning the screws.

I am currently browsing the Golden Builds section and am surprised to see that when there is pictures the positionning of the motherboard and consequently the video card puts the fans underneath.

Is this because the efficiency of the cooling is better and can I securely build with the fans of the video card blowing the air up ?

Found out the reasons, its keeping the fan blades to collect the dust and force the hot air generated by the GPU to flow outside the case without adding up heath to the CPU as well as the way PCI extensions where conceived in the past. I wonder why bothering with choosing a pretty GPU...

Coming back to the Power unit I found out while browsing the differents models made by Corsair that Amazon was presenting a BeQuiet option...

There is far more good reviews compared to the RM serie and I wonder if anyone is satisfied and for how long it has been used ?

The spending has started, minus 2 € on the BeQuiet Power unit was the factor.

I have as well the feeling that it might be overkill to take a 750 rather than a 650 but the price difference (8 € ) gives scope to develop without worrying.

Hopefully the RAM is going to decrease last week it was a 108 € and now it reach 146...

This afternoon woodworking for the case, I think I will need to create a new Mod topic as the SE/30 case will be kept for another project.

Just found this RAM, according to the curves the prices should diminish but it's nearly incredible this fluctuation.

Update for the spending

Hopefully I am on the right path.

To recapitulate here is what I have already bought :

Power Unit : http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B005JRGVCK/?tag=tonymacx8607-21

DVD writer : http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00EV2WBDC/?tag=tonymacx8607-21

And now I am about to buy this RAM : http://www.amazon.fr/gp/product/B008GXNR5I/?tag=tonymacx8607-21

The remaining parts are from the CustoMac Pro Buyer's guide :
Motherboard : http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00CXK59QK/?tag=tonymacx8607-21

CPU : http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00D13R97U/?tag=tonymacx8607-21

SSD : http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B00E391OX6/?tag=tonymacx8607-21

HD : http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B005T3GRNW/?tag=tonymacx8607-21

Can there be any issue with the RAM that I would have missed, it looks to be the same as the one sold from the States. The only difference in the reference seems to relate to the led's colour and the location (EU).

To good to be true, I should have run for it, a minute ago it was at around 116 € and just now the RAM jumped to 144...

I have found an old AMD Athlon and started to dismantle it to recover some parts of the case as well as the switchs.

I am not entirely sure if the connexions are going to fit the motherboard and make an appeal to those who actually had one in their hand to confirm if its where I am indicating on the photomontage or somewhere else.

I wonder too if I will still be able to use the leds ?

I shouldn't have concentraate on what looked like connectors around the reset and power buttons, it made me miss the full set "F Panel"...

Well I'm going to learn from my mistakes.

The bulk of the spending has now been reached, I only need to buy the SSD, HD and the memory.

I have recovered from the AMD Athlon a front panel with 2 USB plugs and 2 jack for the audio, can they be connected to any USB slot on the motherboard ?

Today I have bought the SSD and when I realised that the delivery for the SATA HD could take 2 weeks I decided to use my 3 external hard drives for saving the files and use the SSD only for the OS and Applications.

I would like to know if it's going to make a big difference between buying later on an internal SATA or sticking to the Firewire and USB 2 as I tend to use only once a year some big multi layered Photoshop files.

I was trying to avoid buying some twin 4 Go memory to be able to reach the 32 Go later but this offer http://www.priceminister.com/offer/buy/154576099/crucial-ballistix-elite-memoire.html is making me consider to reach only 24 Go.

Is there an issue in mixing 8 Go of Elite and later on using 16 Go from the Tactical range, as it seems the Elite is not distributed in 8 Go.

Sticking to the Tacical all the way could be wiser ?

I wanted to edit the previous message but it keeps creating a link...

Everything is ordered now, I'm glad to have bought the mobo when it was at 131 € 74, there is no discount anymore.

Final cost (which is excluding some pre owned items) is detailed like this :

DVD burner : 23 € 81
Power Unit : 92 € 99
CPU : 278 € 20
Mobo : 131 € 74
SSD : 118 € 75
Memory : 76 € 98
Fan : 8 € 50

Total is 730 € 97 and I have a lot of expandability.

I am going to see if the lack of internal hard drive cause an issue otherwise the next buy will be a Graphic card.

Eventually I am going to choose something to be able to play some big games and finally being able to use to its full potential C4D.

Just had a thought, I havent mentionned which keyboard I intend to use.

Is there any difference in the architecture of the one I had with the G4 at 1.25 ghz and the most recent ones ?

I'm quite fond of the white and transparent keyboard and would rather spending the money in more RAM and the Graphic Card.
