Hey there! I am wondering currently if my setup will work.

  • Motherboard: Asus Z97-E
  • CPU: Intel i5-4690k
  • GPU: EVGA 770 (superclocked edition)
  • Cooler: Corsair h100i water cool
  • RAM: Kingston HyperX 8gb
  • SSD: Samsung SSD 128gb
  • Second drive: Seagate Barracuda 500gb
  • Case: Phanteks Enthroo Pro
  • Moniter: BenQ XL2420Z
I noticed when I tried to search for my MB for anything hackintosh related, there was nothing that came up, so I'm hoping if there's any answers over here? And was also wondering if my GPU works.

The spec from the Asus website suggests that it may be a good candidate for running OS X. Lan and audio both look good.

The GTX 770 does indeed work with the latest versions of OS X.

Asus Z97-e No Joy

No Joy!

I have this MB without a single peripheral. El Captain always ends with fullblck 0, or something like that and Mavericks ends in a similar fashion (Waiting on something).
UPDATE: Just to be as accurate as possible the El Captain error is:
hfs: Set VeryLowDisk: vol:untitled, freeblks:0, dangerlimit:12

UPDATE: Mavericks error is:
...contact Apple representative. ErrorCode:8877652

VT-d is disabled
Booting off USB 2.0 port (tried both usb 3.0 and usb 2.0 SDXC adaptors)
I tried both El Capitan (EUFI) and Mavericks (MBR) with latest UniBeast for each.
Tried safe mode, no cache, no kext, no kext no cache

So here is what I've got:
Asus Z97-e (NOT USB 3.1) BIOS 802
i5 4460
16G RAM crucial ballistic
Getting Video from VGA port

Mac that just died -- Mid 2011 iMac
Mac that still works -- 2011 Mini

Any Ideas?

Some Joy

1) VGA doesn't work on OS X
2) Disconnect everything, including other hard drives if you can.
3) This MB (Asus Z97-e) doesn't have an HPET setting, VT-d setting depends on CPU, you may not have this as a selection to disable/enable
4) Ended up installing Yosemite due to USB 3.0 hardware driver signature restrictions in El Captain (rumor)
5) The work has just started when you get the OS installed on the hard drive.
