OK,

Following on from here:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=37392
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=14949

I have failed to get Snow Leopard working, and so I'm going to try Lion.

This is my hardware:
http://www.jetway.com.tw/jw/ipcboard_vi ... =NAF92-Q67
http://ark.intel.com/products/52214/Int ... e-3_40-GHz
http://www.corsair.com/memory-by-produc ... 600c9.html
http://www.seasonicusa.com/NEW_X-series_Fanless.htm

With one SATA drive plugged into SATA port 3, one 4GB stick of RAM in slot 1, VGA monitor connected to VGA hole, apple keyboard/mouse connected to a USB hole.

Create a bootable Lion USB stick as per this:
http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/10/ ... using.html

Set BIOS to default and reboot.
Back into BIOS:
- ACPI > S3
- Hyperthreading OFF
- Power Technology CUSTOM
- turbo mode OFF
- SATA mode AHCI
- COM 1, 2 OFF
- Parallel OFF
- CIR controller OFF
- COM 3, 4, 5, 6 OFF
- COM 7, 8, 9, 10 OFF
- Internal Graphics Memory 256M
- Internal Graphics Multi-Monitor ON
- HD Audio OFF
Save and reboot!

Boot into the USB stick.

Loaded into Lion installer.
Run Disk utility.
Select my SATA drive > partition > 1 partition > GUID > HFS+ > Apply
Quit Disk utility.
Continue Lion installer, install onto the SATA drive....

Re: New PT HD Lion install!

Lion installer reboots automatically, back into the USB stick.

Choose to boot into the Lion install....

Arrive at registrations screen, create admin user etc.....

Arrive at login screen, user icon if off center (is this normal?)...

Arrive at desktop!!

So now I can boot to the Lion desktop fine through the USB bootloader thing.

I'm going to leave this for now and think about the next step!

Re: New PT HD Lion install!

Good luck

Re: New PT HD Lion install!

must say so far this has been much easier than snow leopard!

a couple of photos, you can see the off center login picture.

i am going to eat some food.......

looking good there bud

Re: New PT HD Lion install!

OK,

Continuing from where I was on the desktop, I haven't updated the BIOS or anything.

Ran Multibeast 4.0.3, with the DSDT file from here:
viewtopic.php?f=22&t=14949&start=390

Ticked userDSDT, chimera and system utils.

reboot.....

kernel panic....

Re: New PT HD Lion install!

i hink the dsdt file needs to be edited to your hardware or something. i haven't tried yet. will need to dig on that
i alsways had KP when using the DSDT for some reason. using easybeast in the meantime untill i can figure it out.

Re: New PT HD Lion install!

OK, continuing this ridiculous saga!

Using the info here:
http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?p=18 ... ost1842106

I wanted to have the same BIOS version as mike661. It took me all day!

Basically the instructions on the Jetway site are wrong:
http://www.jetway.com.tw/jw/download_ad ... ntype=BIOS

And also, they only link to the current version of the BIOS, which is newer than mike661's.

Using detective work I worked out a link to what I think is the BOIS that mike661 is using:
http://download.jetway.com.tw/download/ ... 92AA02.zip

You have to make a bootable USB stick with DOS on it, there are instructions on the web involving an HP Format Tool and some Win98 files.

I then put on that USB stick the contents of BA92AA02.zip

Contained in that zip is actually an older flash utility (version 2.3.4) which according to the instructions at Jetway is way too old to use! But using the version 4.3.1 or 4.2.9 as per their instructions does not work. It says the BIOS is write protected.

Using the AFU234.EXE file included with the BIOS download did work!

Also, on the Jetway website they say you should use commands "/p /b/n /c /k". First off there is a typo! Second, the command /c does not exist for the older 2.3.4 version. All it does is reset the CMOS, which you can do yourself after the flash is done by resetting to default in the BIOS, so it's cool to leave this off. /k is a command to 'flash non-critical blocks only" or something, but when you use this there is an error saying that there are no non-critical blocks. So, whatever, I just left /K off for fun to see what happens. It WORKED!

So what I did:

Boot computer into the DOS USB stick.

Type this:
Code:
AFU234 BA92AA02.BIN /P /B /N

It did it's thing. It finished and i rebooted the machine. enter into BIOS, reset defaults, reboot, and YES! I have a new bios version.

It now says version 2.02.1205 at the bottom of the screen and build date 07/21/2011 which is guess matches mike661's quote of 'JULY 2011'.

OK, onwards...
