Hi guys, I'm about to pull the trigger on this build (for use as a DAW) and hoping it passes the test, and overclocks to 4.2 Ghz. What do you think?

GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0
Intel Core i7-870 2.93GHz LGA 1156
Noctua NH-U12P SE2 120mm SSO CPU Cooler
PNY GeForce 9800 GT VCG98GTEE1XPB Video
Mushkin Enhanced Silverline 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666)
Antec Twelve Hundred Black Computer Case
Antec EA750 750W Continuous Power
Sony Optiarc CD/DVD Burner Black SATA Mode (X2)
SYBA PCI to Firewire 1394a 3+1 Ports Controller Card Model SD-PCI-4F (For Audio interface and FW Drives)

Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Hard Drive (X2- one for SL and one for W7)
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 1TB 3.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s (For Audio Storage)

Excited and hoping to pull the trigger on this ASAP!

You mean the Firewire Card? I checked to make sure it was the TI chipset, so I'm hoping that will hold true, but I will post for sure if it does not.

Anyone think I would get a big bump in performance if I went SSD on the system drive?

I have a similar build for my brother's DAW:

- Gigabyte P55A-UD3
- Intel i5 750
- 8GB Corsair XMS3
- Thermaltake FRIO (great HS for not so much $$$, I top out at 48c after an hour of OCCT in Windows with the stock fan at the lowest setting :D)
- 2xSamsung Spinpoint F1 1TB (Raid 1)
- 1xWD Green 2TB
- I had an nVidia 9400gt lying around so that's the current GPU
- Cooler Master 690 Advanced II (love the layout, cooling, looks and built in dock at the top)
- Corsair VX550

I went with this firewire card, it's fully compatible, cheap and works fine. Bear in mind it's FW 800 so if your devices are FW 400 you'll need some adapters/cables

And a Presonus Firestudio 2626.

I don't think you can use the 6Gbps ports at 6GBps speed yet other than that everything works, PM if you need any help.
