New P55a-UD3, i7 870 Build

Hi guys, I'm about to pull the trigger on this build (for use as a DAW) and hoping it passes the test, and overclocks to 4.2 Ghz. What do you think?

seems ok looking at it there, not sure about the card reader though. just search each component in the forums and you'll soon know for sure.

You mean the Firewire Card? I checked to make sure it was the TI chipset, so I'm hoping that will hold true, but I will post for sure if it does not.

Anyone think I would get a big bump in performance if I went SSD on the system drive?

I have a similar build for my brother's DAW:

- Gigabyte P55A-UD3
- Intel i5 750
- 8GB Corsair XMS3
- Thermaltake FRIO (great HS for not so much $$$, I top out at 48c after an hour of OCCT in Windows with the stock fan at the lowest setting )
- 2xSamsung Spinpoint F1 1TB (Raid 1)
- 1xWD Green 2TB
- I had an nVidia 9400gt lying around so that's the current GPU
- Cooler Master 690 Advanced II (love the layout, cooling, looks and built in dock at the top)
- Corsair VX550

I went with this firewire card, it's fully compatible, cheap and works fine. Bear in mind it's FW 800 so if your devices are FW 400 you'll need some adapters/cables

I don't think you can use the 6Gbps ports at 6GBps speed yet other than that everything works, PM if you need any help.
