Hi All,

I currently have a 2006 'old faithful' Mac Pro which feels like its heading to the dying hole and considering a new system. I will primarily be using the machine for re-touching, image-editing and motion/3D work so I have put together the following spec and would appreciate any and all advice! - Thank you in advance!!

Case: Corsair 550D Obsidian Case

CPU Cooler: Corsair CWCH80 Hydro Series H80

Power Supply: Corsair 850W HX 80PLUS Gold Modular PSU

Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K 3.5GHz Socket 1155

Motherboard: Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 Socket 1155

RAM: CORSAIR DOMINATOR Platinum Series 32GB

Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 680 SC 2048MB GDDR5

Hard Drive 01(OSX): Corsair 120GB Neutron Series GTX SSD

Hard Drive 02(Win): Corsair 120GB Neutron Series GTX SSD

Hard Drive 03/04(Files & Back-up): WD 1TB 3.5" SATA-III 6Gb/s Caviar

Blueray Writer/reader:
Pioneer BDR-207EBK 12x Blu-Ray Writer

I see 2 things that I would change:
Power Supply: 850W is way overkill get http://www.ebuyer.com/387576-be-quiet-550w-dark-power-pro-10-psu-bn200 instead and save £25.39

Motherboard:
Why get a top line Ivy Bridge CPU and put it on a mid-range Sandy Bridge board? Spend £14.75 more and get a http://www.ebuyer.com/351580-gigaby...isplayport-7-1-channel-audio-atx-ga-z77x-ud5h

Total savings of
£10.64

Hey,

Thanks for your reply! totally hear you on the power supply. Just wondered about the motherboard - I would like one that is listed on the DSDT Database, I couldn't see your recommendation listed. Could you suggest any alternatives?

Cheers,

J
