Hello,
Yesterday I installed my Gigabyte 5770. With the recommendation of modarator ijhu I used Chimera and it worked single monitor right out of the box. At that point I had now way of testing dual monitors. My new samsung SA300 arrived today. Plugged it in and it was no go on the dual monitors. Any recommendations? Thanks!

David

Ok, I still have had no luck. Here is where I stand.
Sill no dual monitor. Only the CRT in HDMI port
Purchased active DVI-HDMI cable as recommended.
Set Advanced BIOS Features>Init Display First>PCIEx16-1
System profile reads ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series
Device ID = 0x68b8 which is correct, from what I have read in the forums
Even thought the Samsung monitor is connected and powered only the LaCie shows up in "Displays"

org.chameleon.boot.plist
Graphics Enabler= Yes
added as recommended in link
<key>Kernel Flags</key>
<string>PCIRootUID=1</string>
right underneath

I do notice that when I boot now I get the grey apple loading screen on both monitors until the login screen comes up, then only the CRT display.

I've tried booting from iboot to see if I could fix anything with that, it says "can't find mach_kernel", I don't know what that means or if it has anything to do with this

So I've been trying to pull this together since mid week. It all started with my new editing software not working. So I bought the gigabyte 5770. Then the 5770 didn't fit the tower> upgraded the tower. Then realized i could only get 1 Analog monitor to work with the 5770> bought new Samsung SA300 monitor. Read the advise> bought the new active HDMI>DVI cable. Btw if you shop at micro center is only found in the Mac section. Spent many hours reading the forum trying things out and restoring the system when it didn't work. SO anyway this new software that was supposed to make my life easy had wasted the last 4 days of my life, lol. Anyway that's the story. :banghead:

If you can get me up and running I would so appreciate it!

David

Ok so here's one more thing. It seems that the LCD monitor only works when it is plugged into the DVI port. So I disconnected the CRT. It displays the grey apple loading screen, up till the login screen. Then goes black. I've tried both the HDMI and the display port. Maybe I need to do something to enable those ports??

Thanks!

David

Correct,

Here's the terminal results:

David-Schwartzs-iMac:~ schwartzphoto$ ioreg | grep ATY

| | | | | +-o ATY_Vervet <class ATIFramebuffer, id 0x10000032d, regist$

David-Schwartzs-iMac:~ schwartzphoto$ bsmesg
-bash: bsmesg: command not found
David-Schwartzs-iMac:~ schwartzphoto$

Yes, the same card you linked.

I appreciate the help!

not sure about ANY success using both HDMI ports on hackintosh.
What is your current or connectors have you used?

You have the correct Vervet frame buffer, but your card is being detected as Radeon 5700 series instead of 5770.

I am running a slightly different 5770 with dual DVI , 1 DP and 1 HDMI, with dual monitors.
see attached pic with GraphicsEnabler=Yes.
Monitor 1 = DVI cable > Monitor
Monitor 2 = DVI > DSub > Monitor

I'd like to take this card back but I kinda screwed myself by sending the rebate in. So I'm going to keep trying a little longer before I decide to ebay it.

ijhu what kexts are you running for video? I wonder if this has anything to do with why it is showing up as a 5700 series instead of 5770.

Thanks,

David

on my PowerColor PCS+ 5770 (2xDVI, 1xDP, 1xHDMI) the following kexts are loaded automatically.

kextstat | grep ATI

87 2 0xffffff7f81268000 0x18a000 0x18a000 com.apple.kext.ATISupport (7.1.2) <70 9 8 7 5 4 3 1>
88 0 0xffffff7f81743000 0x3e000 0x3e000 com.apple.kext.ATI5000Controller (7.1.2) <87 70 9 8 5 4 3 1>
91 0 0xffffff7f813f2000 0x297000 0x297000 com.apple.ATIRadeonX3000 (7.1.2) <71 70 9 7 6 5 4 3 1>
94 0 0xffffff7f8172c000 0x12000 0x12000 com.apple.kext.ATIFramebuffer (7.1.2) <87 70 9 8 7 5 4 3 1>

In terminal, type bsmesg | grep Frame
I am interested in knowing what Chimera detect as frame buffer.

Here's what I get for frame buffer:

David-Schwartzs-iMac:~ schwartzphoto$ kextstat | grep Frame
93 0 0x6ce0b000 0x13000 0x12000 com.apple.kext.ATIFramebuffer (6.3.6) <81 76 14 13 7 5 4 3 1>

Mine has "radeon monitor.kext" only. I'm going to try adding those and see what happens.

Thanks!
