First time builder here with specs as outlined below. Off the bat, I will say that I have searched the posts and found what I think might be bits and pieces of the answer but I a learning the lingo and technology and not comfortable enough to just start cutting and pasting plist commands. I have a few issues that I think are graphics related.
  • There is a black 'flickering' box of pixels in upper left of my display. It appears when there are multiple windows open and there is some cursor movement. It appears that there may be a fix with this here I am going to try this but would appreciate confirmation of anyone who has tried.
  • Certain sites (like tonymacx86) periodically return browsing errors, time out, or won't load video. I assume that this is graphics related but cannot confirm. Slow loads are sporadic and seem not to be dependent on the site. I have run speed test and consistently get speeds above 30.0 mbps
  • Finally, I have GeForce GT 740 SC with 4GB DDR3 Memory. I have attempted to install to fix the above graphics issues. I see the BIOS screen, then the apple logo and about 3/4 through the load, the video signal drops and monitor goes black. I'd like to install and use the GPU but can't get it to load.
I am happy to update plist or other editors to make things work.... just a little timid to go messing around and 'break' something. I have not found a good guide to using editors, etc. that doesn't require a LOT of translation for my issues. Thanks in advance for any help and please go easy on the noob!

For the GT 740, install and activate the Nvidia Web Drivers.

Thanks slim.jim! That worked. Just so that anyone else out there can do this...the steps were:

  • downloaded x-code
  • used multibeast to create new profile - all as above except...
  • did NOT check any graphics in the multibeast injector
  • Once EFI was loaded, I opened the plist config file
  • found the Nvidia driver option - set it to 'yes'
  • saved file
  • reboot
video card now drives two monitors. I have not tried the video playback issues yet but the annoying screen flicker is gone! Thanks

Thanks Cubbieblue84!

have you managed to get webGL working on your GT 740?

<edit>
turns out it is chrome 55 having webGL issues, not my mac. FF and Safari both support webGL
