Anyone use one of these hybrid drives yet? Do they work with Chimera or Clover? Since they're 4096 bit sector drives, I assume they would give a boot0 error on Chimera.

What would be the advantages/disadvantages of this drive compared to an SSD/HDD combo?

I've gone all SSD now (I picked up a couple of 512GB Crucial M550's when they were on sale for $169 a month or so ago), but I used to use an SSD for my boot drive and a Seagate hybrid for my data (the original 2.5" notebook version). The SSHD was marginally faster than an HDD, but not by much. I'd guess that the 3.5" desktop version is slightly faster than the 2.5" notebook version.

They look like a plain old HDD to the operating system, so there are no issues with compatibility.

For best performance, I would go with an SSD as your system drive no matter what. That's where it really counts. Then in descending order of preference, an SSD, SSHD, or HDD for your data. That's less important, since what gets accessed most often are system files and applications, all of which reside on the boot drive, so that's where you want the fastest possible storage. Hope this helps.
