Motherboard
GA-Z97X-SOC
CPU
i74790k
Graphics
GTX 650
Mac
  1. MacBook Pro
Mobile Phone
  1. Android
  2. iOS
I decided to go with bleeding-edge hardware.

i7-4790k
GA-Z97X-SOC (LAN - i217V, Sound - ALC1150, Video - HD4600)
G SKILL 16GB RAM per Gigabyte's approved memory list.
240GB Samsung EVO SSD

Made sure of the following BIOS settings:

M.I.T > XMP>Profile 1 (2133 Mhz)
BIOS Features>Vt-d>Disabled (yes the 4790k has vt-d, which is different from the 4770k, I checked Intel's specs and I have the option to Enable/Disable)
BIOS Features>Boot Mode Selection>Legacy
Peripherals>Initial Display Output>IGFX
Peripherals>Sata Mode Selection>AHCI

I installed 10.9.3, ran Multibeast (see screen capture below for settings), and also ran kextbeast to install the kext from this thread - ->
http://www.tonymacx86.com/graphics/...phics-acceleration-9-series-motherboards.html

Here are two screen captures (top and bottom of screen) of the kernel panic or cpu panic that I get, and Multibeast settings.

The above kernel/CPU panic (screen captures) is what I get using -v -x. If I try going straight in to the installation without any boot options, I get the same panic text with the Apple logo as we are used to seeing when the OS begins the boot process.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Ok...so....my problem outlined above was happening after Multibeast install. After Multibeast install, I couldn't get in to the OS install using any flags whatsoever.

After multiple attempts, I used the process of moving IntelHD kexts outlined HERE.....AND...

I disabled Intel Turbo Boost in BIOS. I can now boot in to the installation after Multibeast without flags and with 16GB of RAM. I still don't have audio of any sort and I'm pretty sure I don't have full video functionality, but I'm working on those issues now.

I somehow got sound to work. I started out with the ALC1150 selections in multibeast and had no luck. I installed VooDoo 2.8.4 and the version before that and had no luck. I used DPCI manager and saw no codecs. Now, I reapplied the ALC1150 method and I get limited sound with codecs showing in DPCI manager. I'm still testing.....

I had the same problem last night with a P8P67-v Pro/Gen3. The fix for me was selecting:

Drivers-->System-->Patched AppleIntel...--> OS X 10.9.0

in MultiBeast.

I have a 3570K running with the same OC settings as windows: 1.6GHz min, 4.6GHz max, DDR3 2133.

Good Luck, glad you got it booting.

As I am using this new Hackintosh for Audio Production I kept things Pretty Simple

Build Spec

Fractal Arc Midi r2 case
GA-H97-D3H Motherboard
Intel 4790k cpu
GA GT640 Graphics Card
4Gig Corsair XMS 1600mhz ( got more on order )
Crucial M500 120GB Solid Stae Boot Drive
Corsair HX750 Gold Pro psu
Apple Mini PCIe wirless card put into a PCIe Adapter
Thermal Take water 2.0 performer
Additonal Noctua fans on order as the thermal take ones are too noisey for me
Running 10.9.4

Bios Settings

Optimized Defaults
Extreme Memory Profile 1
Vt-d disabled
Inital Display outpit PCIe slot1
Sata Mode Selection AHCI
Boot Mode Selection Legacy Only
Onboard Lan Disabled
Built In Audio Disabled
Super IO Disabled
Intergrated Graphics Disabled

1.Made a Unibeast installer with 10.9.3
2.Added Multibeast 6.3 and some utiltys to the Unibeast USB boot stick & text doc with the boot 0 fix
3.Started From Unibeast USB Drive and Installed 10.9.3
4.Upon restart after 10.9.3 Install I had to Safe Boot to get to the Desktop to run Multibeast
5.Multibeast settings

Quick Start DSDT free
Drivers>Disk>3rd Party Sata
Drivers>Misc>All the Fake SMC stuff
Drivers>Misc>USB 3.0
Customize>Basic Boot Options
Customize>Generate CPU States
Customize>Use Kernal Cache
Customize>System Definition Mac Pro 3.1
Customize> Themes tonymacx86 Black

As you can see my Multibeast settings are very basic I do not use the in built graphics or audio or ehternet and the Machine is never put to sleep.

After runningMultibeast and restarting I got a boot 0 error which I was expecting so
I booted from the Unibeast USB Drive and Opened Up the terminal
I ran this command dd if=/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h of=/dev/disk0s2
I had made sure the SD drive was on Sata Port1 when installing it

Once That was doen I was able to start up withotu a Hitch

The Machine is working great and I have updated too 10.9.4 without any Problems
as I do not use Built in Audio / Ethernet / Intergrated Graphics /
And I am using an Apple wireless Card on a PCIe Adapter

I have the Machine Overclocked to 4.5Ghz with Turbo and Hyper threading active

Finally Here is a Geek Bench File

Try disablinng the built in audio and Lan in the bios
Also try disabling Vt-d

Hello So I haven't bought the components for my hackingtosh build, there have been changes to both the budget and the components. Here is the list also I do plan on getting a graphics card but at this time I only need to do light video editing and I have read that the better your CPU is the faster it can render video so I was wondering if I can build my hackingtosh without a dedicated GPU but with the possibility of adding a GPU within 6 months.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache,
up to 4.40 GHz) $339

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC Desktop
Motherboard 165.99 ($35 rebate)

SSD: Crucial M500 120GB SATA 2.5-Inch 7mm
(with 9.5mm adapter) Internal Solid State
Drive $74.99

HDD: Western Digital 1 TB SATA III 7200 RPM 64
MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive,
Black $78.95

PSU: Corsair CX Series 750 Watt ATX/EPS
Modular 80 PLUS Bronze ATX12V/EPS12V
744 Power Supply CX750M or (CX600M) $89.99 or $68.99

RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB Kit (8GBx2)
DDR3 1600 MT/s (PC3-12800) CL9 @1.5V
UDIMM 240-Pin Memory $157.99 or less if I can find it cheaper on ebay.

CASE: NZXT ca-ph410-g1 Phantom 410 Mid Tower
USB 3.0 Gaming Case Gunmetal with Black
Trim $84

POSSIBLE Graphics Card.
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 760 GDDR5-2GB 2xDVI/HDMI/DP OC
WINDFORCE 3X Graphics Cards GV-N760OC-2GD REV2.0 $250 <

I would greatly appreciate any advise regarding compatibility with the new Devils Canyon and Mavericks.

P.P.S
Sorry to chime in on your thread but this is the only week I have to order the parts for my build because my courses will start assigning actual work to be completed by this week and so I only have this weekend before our first round of tests. I just wanted to know if the build is solid to work with mavericks and if there will be any trouble with the z87 mobo and the i7 4790k build as well as the lack of dedicated GPU. If I do remember correctly in a previous thread there was a risk that mobo and the new i7 would not work without a proper bios update.
