Need Video Card Upgrade Recommendations

I would like to upgrade my Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 970 4GB G1 Gaming Video Card video card and I was wondering video card do you recommend that wont break the bank and will give me noticeable performance improvement when doing editing/color grading in Davinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro. Also good performance with regular gaming and VR gaming on the Oculus Rift.
Also any other recommended relatively cheap upgrades to my rig that will boost performance.

What size monitor do you have?
The 1070 is a great card, anything above that is fine.
It wouldnt be worth buying new pc parts right now, ddr4 ram prices are through the roof.
Its best and wait for intel 10nm production which looks likely 2019.
