Need video card for Airplay?

You should be able to use it with the HD 4000 as long as you have the right system definition. I think it only works if you are using integrated graphics.
 
what do you mean "system definition?" sorry but im new to this stuff
 
What your computer identifies its self as like MacMini, Mac Pro, IMac ect.

I found this on Lifehacker..does this mean I can't use AirPlay with the Intel 400 onboard graphics? I don't really wanna buy a video card yet, but I could hold off until January (when I go back to school)

In the article there is nowhere mentioned that they are talking about dedicated graphics only. An integrated GPU is as well a GPU. Furthermore the MacBook Air 2011 and 2012 have HD3000/HD4000 only and are also supported. ;)

Its easy to find out just google witch macs support it then change the system definition to one of them.
