I am using Unibeast with an app store download of os x lion.

I can manage to get the OS to install onto my desktop's hard drive, and then when I finally reboot into lion (using the USB stick to boot into the lion partition) it always fails.

I copied some ATIXXXX kext files into the root dir during installation to prevent white screen issues with my video card but I don't think that is related to this.

The error I am seeing is:

Failed to load kext com.apple.driver.AudioAUUC failed to load (0xdc00800e).
Couldn't alloc class "AudioAUUCDriver"
0 0 AppleUSBCDC: start - initDevice failed
USBMSC Identifier (non-unique): <hex numbers>
rooting via boot-uuid from /chosen: <hex nums>
From path: "uuid", waiting on <dict ID="0"><key>IOProviderClass</key><string ID="1">IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string ID="2">boot-uuid-media</string></dict>
0 0 AppleUSBCDC: start - initDevice failed
0 0 AppleUSBCDC: start - initDevice failed
Still waiting for root device
Still waiting for root device
Still waiting for root device (and this continues to repeat over time)

Any suggestions? I have tried setting the PCIRootUID=0, 1, and 2 to no avail. I have also tried booting into safe mode and single user mode with no luck.

Try GraphicsEnabler=no.
You may have a corrupted USB. I would do the unibeast lion installer again, make sure you format to Master Boot Record and do a fresh clean build. That might not be your issue but that's where I would start. Maybe the experts have other ideas.

I'll try the graphic enable (though I believe I have in the past). After that I'll redo the stick to see if it helps.

Just a note - when i install with the USB stick i have AHCI mode enabled. After i reboot I have to set my bios back to IDE because the Lion drive doesn't show up when I boot from the USB stick. I am thinking this may be part of the issue but I can't figure out how to make the Lion drive show up in AHCI mode. Suggestions?

I had a similar issue when trying to install Lion. The cause ended up being that I had plugged in my USB stick into a USB 3 port. Once I switched it over to a USB 2 port, the install went through.

Thanks a bunch for mentioning the 3.0 issue. Solved my problem right away.

Just wanted to echo this thanks! I had my USB key plugged in to the front panel ports which are 3.0, plugging it in to a 2.0 in the back solved this same problem for me

Ditto! Running a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 F3 and I was plugging my kit into the USB 3.0 ports, moved them to the USB 2.0 ports and it ran up perfectly.

2 damn hours of messing around with the BIOS before I found this note, LOL!

I was able to boot and start the installer from DVD but USB key kept stopping with "Waiting for root device.". Stupid thing was it's even written on the back of my case next the ports, USB 3.0 or USB 2.0! Oh well, live and learn!

Hey all,
I've run into the same issue but my notebook only has USB 3.0 ports.
Any suggestions on how I can resolve this?

Thanks.
