(solved) Need help for UEFI-Update Gigabyte Z68MX-UD2H-B3

Hello!

I´ve got the UEFI-Download from the Gigabyte website. I opend it on Win XP, the file extracted to three more files:

1) autoexec.bat

2) FLASHEFI.EXE

3) Z8MXUD2H.U1C

I copied theese three files on my USB-Stick, which was formatted on Win XP Fat32 (anyway, I tried to format the USB-Stick before on my Macbook using Fat32 an choosed Master Boot Record in the options).

So now, I deldeted my DSDT-File in the Extra-Folder (made a copy ofcoarse in case of problems, which was a great idea!) and restart my Hackintosh.

I pressed "F12" to get in the Boot-Options and choosed "USB-HDD".

But then it will stuck showing "Loading System..." and nothing happens :(

So, what can I do to run the Flash-Updater to get the UEFI-Bios?

Thanks for your help,
greets wiseman

P.S.: Please don´t mind my strange English, I´m not a native speaker...

Okay, I found the answer:

You press "End" during startup, and then you´ll come in the "Qflash"-Bios-Menu. There you can choose the USB-Stick and the new UEFI-File.

But if I do so, the computer tells me "BIOS ID check error".

There is a guide here from MacMan to help make your Usb Dos formatted

MacMan has a guide

DOS-formatted is the same as FAT32 formatted (so far as I know).

I´ve read macmans manual to prepare the USB-Stick.

But it seems, that there is a problem with this UEFI-file from Gigabyte, somehow it does not fit for my board...?

You need to make your usb stick bootable.

There's also a program that will do it if you have Windows but I forget what it's called. It's definitely easier than unplugging all your drives. If you have windows just google it.

Once you do that just put the 3 files for the bios-uefi update onto the root of the usb stick and it'll automatically begin to update when you select to boot from that drive.

Thanks Randycatanach!

Problem solved!!! :)

You should not use the QFlash-Feature from Bios.

And it is not enough to put the Flash-Updater-Files simply on an USB Stick, which is FAT32 (DOS) formatted.

You have do install a running DOS-System onto the USB-Stick, the computer has to start with a real DOS-System from the USB-Stick.

This is the prerequisite for the autoexec.bat file to start the Flash.exe.

And yes, sleep is working now!!!

And my bluetooth mighty mouse works after wakeup as well - great!!

And do you no longer need a DSDT?
