Hello everyone.

So as you can see my build is pretty much old. I managed to install "successfully" catalina. I use this hack build for music.
I stumbled across these problems that i didn't have.
1. Of course the gtx graphics card isn't supported, i found something online to patch it. The patch was partly successful but inside logic can see the play bar it's hidden.
2. My pc seems to run the fans at middle to full speed all the time, didn't have this problem with sierra. This problem i understand it's not for this thread.

I want to be able to use my hack build as i did on sierra, it was better than my macbook. If i buy the radeon graphics card will it solve my problems? Will i have a "perfect" machine as before?

Thank you all.
Sorry for my English
:)

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: Depends on what AMD Radeon GPU you get, and what version of Catalina you are on.

(All the GPU's listed below are upgrades from the GTX 960, besides the RX 560)

If you are on 10.15.1 or 10.15.0, then one of these would work:

AMD Radeon RX 560
AMD Radeon RX 570
AMD Radeon RX 580
AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 (now overpriced)
AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 (now overpriced)
AMD Radeon VII (rare)

If you are on 10.15.2 or later, then all of these would work (as well as the ones above):

AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT
AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT
AMD Radeon RX 5700
AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT

Brands (it only doesn't matter if you are getting a reference card. i.e. Radeon VII):

Best: Sapphire - Great build quality - rarely have coil whine
Good: Gigabyte - Good build quality - most don't have coil whine
Good: MSI - Good build quality - some have coil whine
Good: ASUS - Great build quality - most have coil whine
Ok: ASRock - Ok build quality - most don't have coil whine
Not great: PowerColor - Poor build quality - some have coil whine
Horrible: XFX - Poor build quality - most have coil whine
