Hi all!

I've been running SL on my asus M50VM-A1 laptop for a while now but I feel like it's time for me to upgrade. I started checking to build my very own customac from what I've read so far in other posts.

Here's the parts list:

Mobo: GIGABYTE GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 8MA-D2H-B3

CPU: Intel Core i5-2400 Sandy Bridge 3.1GHz
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6819115074

GPU: Radeon HD 6850 1GB
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6814125353

RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB)
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6820233199

HD: Seagate Barracuda ST500DM002 500GB 7200 RPM
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6822148767

I already have a case (X-Blade) with a 400W PSU and I was wondering if that was enough or if I should go with a better PSU.

I'm not rich so I wanted a decent build, something that will allow me to photoshop and play diablo 3 when it comes out without issues. I'd also like to keep this computer for a couple of years, maybe just getting a SSD later on when I have the money... If you have any suggestions on how I could make this a better build for about the same price (719,75$ with taxes + shipping) please let me know.

I believe most components work OOB. I'm trying to stay as close as possible to a vanilla kernel.

I'll probably go for a USB dongle for Wifi.

Thank you!

The components look good. But I think you may need a more powerful power supply (preferably 500W) with that 6850 graphics card.

Thanks for the reply! I'll also build my own wifi card since I already bought a broadcom card for my laptop :D

Thanks for this amazing guide!

Do you know how I could contribute to the website by buying on newegg.ca? I live in Canada and from what I've read in the sticky it's only from newegg.com, amazon.com and amazon.co.uk

thanks again!
