Never built before but intrigued. After checking things out and doing some research, here is the beginning of my list. I'd appreciate any feedback- Thanks.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P
CPU: Intel i5 760
GPU: EVGA GeForce GT 240 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card 512-P3-1241-LR
PSU: Corsair CMPSU-550VX 550-Watt VX

Thant's it so far. See any concerns? How vanilla will this install be?
Now, what RAM would you suggest?

OCZ ram works well - see the custo-macs from the blog

If you buy through the link from the blog, the forum gets a bit of $$ support.

Here are other components I am looking to add and looking for input on acceptability:

Memory: Corsair TW3X4G1333C9 XMS3 4GB 2 X 2 GB PC3-10666 1333Mhz Dual Channel 240-pin DDR3 Desktop Memory

Case: Cooler Master Elite 335 ATX Mid Tower Case Black - (RC-335-KKN1-GP)

Other Option Video: EVGA nVidia GeForce GT240 1 GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI PCI-Express Video Card 01G-P3-1235-LR (not sure how this one differs from the one I originally added above- it is cheaper on Amazon)

The difference is the memory clock speed:
the 1235-LR has a memory clock speed of 1580 MHz
The 1241-LR has a memory clock speed of 3400 MHz

Get the 1241-LR - it will be faster.
