Hi. I am new here and new on HackIntosh.

I am from Argentina, and I am building my first CustoMac. I am using Mac since 2002.

My old iMac G5 is dead and my Mac G5 is running slower everyday. Anyway, I wanted some feedback about this set up.

I already asked Lnx2Mac in his blog, and I thank him greatly for his patience and help.

I just wanted more input and share my expectations.

The total cost of this in Argentina is U$D 1132 without software.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P55-US3L
CPU: Intel i7 870
RAM: KINGSTON 2X2GB DDR3-1600Mhz HX
Videocard: EVGA GT240 1GB
HDD1: WD 64MB 1TB SATA2 for Mac OSX
HDD2: WD 64MB 1TB SATA2 for Windows 7
HDD3: WD 160 GB SATA for photo storage
OD: Sony AD 7240S
Case: Antec 300 with 600W BRB PSU

Gracias!

I would go with a different motherboard if possible. The GA-P55-US3L is lacking things like firewire, eSATA, and USB 3. Plus, it uses the 892 audio codex, and it has parallel and serial ports. Which I don't know why you would need them in this day and age. Also, I don't know of anyone else here that using that board, so getting support for it may be difficult.

Thanks Dr Who.

I choose the US3L because it was relatively cheap and in the database, the other one I can take is the GA P55A UD3P.

Here, I have limited stuff to choose. and limited financial resources as well.

The GA-P55A-UD3P looks much better, my only concern is that it doesn't have firewire. Which can be easily added via a PCI-Express card. Also make sure that you get the Rev. 2 model.
