I encountered this same issue `Copy of 'apfs.efi' failed.`
I went to the directory suggested by MacMan, /usr/standalone/i386/apfs.efi and I found that the apfs.efi file was indeed there.
I went back into Multibeast again, tried installing the UEFI boot loader (only), and it worked this time. I have no clue why, but it seemed the only difference was that I opened the directory containing apfs.efi and had it open in Finder while running Multibeast. I rebooted for good measure, and I was finally able to boot from locally installed Clover (rather than relying on my Unibeast USB boot loader).
Perhaps I just had good fortune, but maybe this will help someone else with this issue as well.
