So I am trying to put OS X 10.8 on my Bestbuy special (asus x401a) and wanted to document some of my progress. My specs are:
Intel Pentium B970
Intel HD graphics
4gb ram
120gb Sandisk Extreme SSD
I have the latest BIOS installed (x401a.210) and I am using the 10.8 retail app downloaded on my mac (hackintosh as well) and made the usb stick using the latest unibeast (1.5.3 ML). I used only the "Laptop Support" option in unibeast, then I copied these two kexts (http://www.osx86.net/downloads.php?do=file&id=2870) to the /extra/extensions folder of the usb stick (find it using the show all files tool in the tonymacx86 downloads).
Plugging the usb stick in the usb 2.0 port (non-blue on right side) and pressed esc upon booting up, selected my usb, and I was greeted by the chimera bootloader. Using the following flags (may have to try it a couple time, it works sometimes, and sometimes not):
-v -f UseKernelCache=no cpus=1
I was able to make it to the installer (so happy!) and I installed it to my HDD (I have windows and ubuntu already installed,so the disk is in MBR) and it was sucessful. I restarted booting from the usb stick and highlighting the HDD install of mac, using the same boot flags, it went right into the install (I actually may have added the -x for safe mode, I can not recall).
I have OOB:
Correct resolution (1366x768)
working keyboard
usb 3.0 port is working (my usb mouse does, don't know about the 3.0 speed)
Not working:
Graphics (probably will never work)
Trackpad (driver is being worked on here: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mountain-lion-laptop-support/74051-elantech-touchpad-driver-mac-osx.html)
HDMI and VGA (untested)
SD card reader
battery
wireless (unsure of the installed card)
webcam (untested)
Any help would be appreciated in the venture
