Hard Disk Thrashing; Check Your NTFS Drives

Greetings all. I finally have a working Mountain Lion install, but the hard drive appears to be reading pretty much constantly (see attached).

If any of you have run into this, do you have some idea of how I might get this to stop, or some idea of where to start troubleshooting?

Cheers!

Edit: see this post (link) for my crappy solution. I'm just not going to mount my NTFS partitions/drives until there's a better solution.

Could be spotlight trying to index your drive- this is normal upon fresh install or update. Check the top right corner spotlight icon- and if it's pulsing, you're going to have disk activity.

Hi Tony, thanks for replying. I thought it was Spotlight at first, but the indexing stopped over an hour ago.

Update: Hmm, looks like this may be related to my ntfs-3g driver. As soon as I unmounted my NTFS drives, the thrashing stopped.

edit: if your drive(s) are thrashing endlessly, try unmounting any ntfs filesystem drives for now.
