The OS is installed on the SSD and the other 2 hard drives are in a raid array. The BIOS on the mobo is the original installed (F1, I think). I haven't tried to upgrade this yet, would that make a difference?

I followed the latest instructions to install Mountain Lion from scratch from a USB drive using this guide:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/61-unibeast-install-os-x-mountain-lion-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

Install went fine and everything seems to work upon boot, but after a few minutes, the OS crashes :(.

Has anyone gotten this setup to work yet? Is a BIOS upgrade a must?

I don't think the bios is F1. It should be U1g(UEFI BIOS) or F10. Mine was F9 and upgraded to U1g(UEFI BIOS). No need DSDT anymore. Had been running ML for 6 months and ok. But my graphics card is HD 5770... After installing the OSX, I switched graphics card to HD 6850.

The BIOS has never been upgraded. This was purchased in 2011. At one point during boot, or in the BIOS settings somewhere it says F1 . . .
