Hi Guys,
FYI, pretty successful vanilla install on fresh SSD with my "old skool" G41m workhorse, which has run (almost) everything from probably as far back as Snow Leopard, pretty successfully on the whole.
As for El Capitan, all went pretty much according to the guide (Thanks TonyMac)...
Attached is the screen grab from Multibeast tested & working on a basic level.
Appstore works, safari browses pretty well, speedof.me seems to show the correct broadband speeds, connections to smb fileshares works, and the 1080p screen is v.nice on hdmi.
haven't tested sound yet, as it's not very important to me at this stage.
One interesting oddity though - would be grateful for suggestions:
Read from SMB works fine - 3 Gigs in 28 seconds, perfectly useable.
Write to SMB, however, is diabolically slow, dropping Multibeast onto a share (26Megs) starts at 1.2MB in around 30 seconds & then just grinds to a halt, eventually getting started again & taking around 7 minutes to complete.
The SMB server is an Ubuntu, and for a windows client can do 50MBytes/sec to 100Mbytes/sec reading and writing, same credentials.
I'm sure there must be a clue somewhere, but I've googled a fair amount with no success.
Normally quite good at choosing words for google search, but only got red herrings so far, wasting a number of hours.
Open to suggestions, where to start debugging?
Anyone else seen this?
If I don't get any clues I may have to revert back to ML as I never got to Yosemite!
Thanks guys
