Most powerful video card that works trouble free on 10.8.5

Hi everyone,

My hack is working great since I built it in 2011 but I work only with audio (I'm a mixing engineer) so I never paid much attention to video cards, that's why I bought a nVidia 8400GS back then.

But now my wife is doing video work on Final Cut and I'm thinking about gaming a little bit when I have the time.

A few weeks ago I bought a GTX 750 ti without the proper research and found out it didn't work with 10.8 so I tried the move to 10.10.2 without success (card never worked properly)

So now I want to stay on 10.8.5 as much as possible but I want a card that works with it.

What do you recommend? Up to let's say $250/300 bucks

You'll have to find these cards on eBay as they are out of production. I looked at the Graphics Cards section of the September 2013 Buyer's Guide. Looks like the nVidia GTX 670, 680, 760 and 770 are supported in 10.8.5. I recommend the EVGA or Gigabyte brands as they've performed flawlessly for me.
