H!,

I'm searching in this forum for the
  • most compatible video card below $ 300,- (plug and play)
  • a good monitor below $ 300,- min 24" not professional photo editing

Monitor
http://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/accessories/apd/210-amrx
(I guess that this monitor works with High Sierra ??)

My current motherboard
2 x PCIe 3.0/2.0 x16 (x16 or dual x8, black+blue)
https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/P8B_WS/specifications/

At the moment I have a Nvidia Quadro 2000, but that isn't working anymore with High Sierra and never did a good job.

What I have read is that almost all ATI cards works.
Someone at this forum said:

I would recommend the Sapphire Radeon RX 580 Pulse (currently the most compatible card around)

I know that this site have a Buyers Guide, but those cards are to expensive and the cheap video card has problems when I'm searching that one at this forum...

With a budget of around 250 USD this is the monitor I would consider:

For graphics, go with a card that has DisplayPort (DP) so you can connect with that directly to the 4K monitor. HDMI 2.0 is not the best choice for 4K on a CustoMac. You can still find the GTX 770 used on places like Ebay. The drivers are in macOS so it's about as OOB as you can get. The newer GT1030 by MSI also has DP output for 4K @ 60Hz. That requires the Nvidia drivers to work. Those are very easy to install. They don't always work perfectly though. Depends on the SMBIOS you are using and other factors as well.

Nice monitor ! thanks check some reviews first.

What does OOB stand for ? I know that it means its compatible.

Does the brand make a difference or can I buy a MSI GTX 770 for example (or only ATI GTX 770)

I don't want any Nvidia at the moment, only OOB.

Are there any more recent OOB video cards at the moment ?

EDIT:
I see now that the GTX 770 is a Nvidia , so there are some Nvidia compatible video cards
OOB = Out of the Box I guess

Yes, there are OOB Nvidia cards but they are older, like the GTX 770 or my GTX 760. I use a GTX 760 in my system with MacOS Sierra 10.12.6 and High Sierra 10.13.4, and it works fine in both OS.

For $300 you can get 27" Ultrasharp if you search around.
