Input data:
OSX Catalina 10.15.1
Asus z170i pro gaming+ ddr4 32 2600 + i7 7700k + RX5700 XT
External 2k monitor by DisplayPort 1.2
Clover 5099 + WEG + agpmod + imacpro1.1 smbios + igpu off
So Everything works pretty well. I can do good test with Radeon Pro Render. My metal score about 47000-48000 with GeekBench 5.0.4. System could sleep and wake up. Bruce5k test for 6 seconds! Hardware decoding fully supported.
Problem:
But after monitor sleep mode (it not depending from time settings – i can set 1 min or 1 hours) Metal performance slow down. Just monitor sleep mode! No hibernation or smth else like powerNap etc. My radeon pro render tests became more longer [+some more seconds], my metal score about 30000-32000 with GeekBench 5.0.4
After reboot system metal performance restore to normal scores.
Feels like something loose connection on system level and couldn't catch up on restore. But kextstat show me the same kext numbers before & after monitor sleeps.
I try: Everything. Change SMBIOS (17.1/18.3/1.1), different ACPI patches with Clover, change FakeSMC / Virtual SMC, different Bios settings... nothing helps!
Previous setup with the same hardware (even the same clover settings!) but with GTX1070 and HS10.13.6 works without Metal1 performance degradation after monitor sleep.
I think it's not Clover or SMBIOS problem. May be some bug in SMC/WhateverGreen or apple bug with Navi and Metal.
My current temporary fix: setting monitor time sleep for never.
Could somebody check it, reproduced it, resolve it?
