I won't actually begin building my hackintosh for a month or two, when I finish my current work project and return home. But I have begun buying parts, based on Newegg sales. I bought a GA-Z68XP-UD3 mobo, $126 with mail in $10 rebate, but will wait a little to get an Ivy Bridge processor for it.

Looking at RAM at Newegg, G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9Q-32GBXL (linkhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231487&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL042412&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL042412-_-EMC-042412-Index-_-DesktopMemory-_-20231487-L04A).

But one person had trouble, and manufacturer responded:We are sorry to hear you are not satisfied with the memory. For the Apple MacPro, it requires a different type of memory, since it is a server/workstation type computer. G.Skill memory is made for performance PCs that are non-ECC, unregistered, unbuffered. As you know, the memory can work, but the EFI may select a different profile. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Should you have any questions or issues, please feel free to contact us directly.

QUESTION !: There shouldn't be any problems with this memory on that mobo, with either the Win7 or Mac OS on my hackintosh, should there?

Question 2: Why is this other memory, same manufacturer, same specs, also Newegg, so much cheapermore expensive per MB? ($180 for 16 GB) G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000) Desktop Memory Model F3-2133C9D-16GXH (link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231571&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL042412&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL042412-_-EMC-042412-Index-_-DesktopMemory-_-20231571-L03C)

Sorry - I'm missing something on how to insert a link.

No, there shouldn't be problems with this RAM. But be sure, that it fit's with your CPU cooler (if you use not the original one). Look in my build thread, there is a picture of my CPU cooler and my RAM sticks, pretty close and I have low-profile RAM sticks.

First RAMs are 1333MHz RAMs and the second is 2133MHz RAM. Sandy Bridge supports 1333MHz, doesn't matter what you put in (if faster). And you'll never see the difference in real life, only in benchmarks. Really fast RAM is for people who are crazy overclocking, there is fast RAM needed.

Your question about Mac Pro: Yes, Mac Pro is a workstation and works with ECC RAM, your hackintosh is basically 'just' a windows PC with OS X running on it and not the hardware of a Mac Pro itself. So there are no problems with this RAMs.

Thanks Coupz - thought so, but wanted to be sure before making the purchase - gredhead

You should be able to use the RAM on your Z68 motherboard. I use four Super Talent 8GB DDR3-1333 sticks on my system with no problems.

However, you should note that at present Mac OSX does not support Ivy Bridge processors. If and when Apple releases a new round of Macs based on Ivy Bridge, then Mac OSX Lion (or may be the coming Mountain Lion) will be updated to fully support Ivy Bridge CPUs.
