Meaning of "vanilla"

Hi people and sorry for the offtopic.

Since i've registered to this community and made my first hackintosh, i've been wondering.... what's the meaning of "vanilla kernel" "vanilla install", the vanilla meaning in gerenal.

Vanilla is a term used for "native" as in the original untouched whatever, be it kext, kernel, etc..

So for example, vanilla kexts are the kexts that Apple ships.
