Maximus V Gene 10.8 Guide with DSDT

Try the DSDT version.

I tried this as well but it still did not work. My system def says Mac Pro 3,1. What is yours?

I am also having difficulty getting this to work on my ASUS Maximus V Gene.

I have followed all your instructions exactly 6 times now and every time it fails with an error on the Intel CPU Power Management.

I have flashed my BIOS with the patched one and it didn't fix the problem so I re-flashed it back to an older version just to make sure it was flashing correctly and then re-flashed the patched one again with same results.

I have tried it with and without the DSDT file and same results. The only way I have managed to get it to work was to use the EasyBeast Installation within MultiBeast 5.0.2.

Once I got it to work with the EasyBeast I still had to go into my BIOS and set the iGPU memory to 64MB else the video is corrupt (found this info using google).

I am using the following hardware.

ASUS Maximus V Gene with Modified 1204 BIOS
Intel i7 3770 Socket 1155 CPU (It is not the "K" version, not sure if that makes a difference)
Intel HD 4000 Graphics
WD VelociRaptor 120GB 10,000 RPM HDD
Corsair 550W Power Supply
4x 8GB 1866MHz Corsair DDR3 Memory

Should I just continue to use it like this?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

EasyBeast is fine, just delete NullCPUPowerManagement. My Smobios is iMac12.2

@at0myx : you should try Mac Pro 3,1 WITH ALC898 non DSDT instead of iMac 12,2 to have green port fully working. It does perfectly for myself.
@KoalaMan : I read somewhere you used iMac 12,2 to recover pstates. With Mac Pro 3,1 I have 16,17,18 and 39 via MSRDumper working.
Congrats, you're actually the only one thus far (that I can find) using this board that actually generates more that 2 p-states. Thinking it can only be done with the Mac Pro 3.1 definition. Additionally it appears that it also fixes audio output to the correct port.

Yeah, it's so wierd to only have 2, but atleast it works! :)

Yes it is. Since you're promoting using 12.2, how 'bout giving us a screenie of your MSRDumper output.

My mistake, I actually ran it for less than a minute, I have in fact 6 pstates :

Code:

I had to remove dsdt.aml, otherwise, I had only two pstates (16,39).

thats an interesting point.
brycv and i found when making asus dsdts for the database, extracted from the rom (not from someones working system) that it would show the same thing.
also when ive tested with someone elses dsdt, the same thing would happen.

using no dsdt, or your own patched dsdt, you get the full range of pstates.
weird
