hi guys finally have some money to do a build but am perplexed a little to what ?
now i know its sounds dumb but I'm hoping to keep a colour theme going and the boards that most have mentioned are different colors to what I'm hoping to build , don't laugh i have a dream :)

I'm coming from a mac mini so i think that feature based items are always going to be better with this new build anyways , so i have had a gander at these boards am i way off or with some persistence will they work ?

I don't find it stupid at all..have a look at my build and you will see I am just as concerned about my build looking nice as well!

The first board is yellow and black, whilst the others are red and black. Is that a mistake or can either colour make the cut?

I was deciding between the Z87X-UD4H for a red and black Z87 motherboard, or the ASUS VII Ranger (think its very similar to the Hero) for a red and black Z97 motherboard. I found a good deal for the UD4H so settled on that in the end. If you search the forum you will see that others are still teasing out issues with the Z97 chipset. It seems that work arounds have been found for most of the issues, and it seems to be about 95% there. As my first Hackintosh experience, I wanted to make sure it was relatively straight forward, and didn't want the learning curve to be too steep, so I am glad I went with the more supported Z87 chipset.

The advantage of using Z97 is that you know your 4790K will be supported OOB (need to update BIOS on Z87 boards to use 4790K), and you can take advantage of M.2 and SATA Express in the future. Personally, I couldn't see myself using the faster connections anytime soon, so the Z87 suited my needs fine.

This is just my experience and your mileage may vary, but I would definitely do lots of searches on here on those motherboards to help inform you whether its something you would want to go with.

hi dr eskimo thanks for the reply its much appreciated
yeah the first one in the yellow is something i was liking to for a yellow theme , but my first idea was a red layout but i thought i would throw it in the mix :)

had a look at the ASUS VII Ranger and the Z87X-UD4H both boards look very nice and i think will suit the theme so thank you :)
and it does make sense to go with a board that i can get a smooth run , perhaps the z97 boards may be outa my league , i did see one run thru or a mis board and was like wow , i could really mess that up ha ha
:)
