So, no one has been able to install mavericks on lenovo y500 ?

I have my usb ready and I have tried all sorts of commands during boot but i can't get it into the installer mode. It shuts down after a hard fan sound.

I have searched google already.

Should i just give up ?

Should be no problem. You will need to remove the Nvidia kexts (or disable the nvidia in BIOS) to install (NV*, GeForce*) and you will need to boot using "IGPEnabler=N -x -v" until you are able to implement power management and set your ig-platform-id with DSDT patches.

See here for PM: http://www.tonymacx86.com/mavericks...nagement-sandy-bridge-ivy-bridge-laptops.html

See here for DSDT patches: https://github.com/RehabMan/Laptop-DSDT-Patch. You will need "HD4000 High Resolution", "Brightness Fix" and optionally "Rename GFX0 to IGPU".

FYI: Intel WiFi is not supported.

1. No option to disable Nvidia in BIOS, so looks like I do the patch thingy ?
2. WIFI wont work ? Does this mean wifi wont work no matter what I do ?

DSDT patches will be required either way (they are for HD4000, not nvidia). You will need to remove the nvidia drivers from the USB before attempting to boot the installer.

Not the card you have installed. You can replace it with a compatible card.

Noobish question - How do I do this ?

Kexts live in /System/Library/Extensions. After you create your Unibeast USB, you delete them by navigating there and removing them using Finder.

I removed the kexts and now when i try to boot using "IGPEnabler=N -x -v", I get this error -

"The IOUSB family was not able to enumerate a device"

I also tried usbbusfix command, that didn't help either.

I have tried multiple usb ports but it just doesn't help.

P.S I also get bunch of smc errors in the end.

Are you reaching the desktop? And don't forget that boot flags are case sensitive... 'usbbusfix' does nothing.
