Hi all,

First off - I'm amazed at how all this is working. Thanks, tonymac and everyone else involved!

Now for the bad news: this one's a huge bummer. For some reason, when I boot with a drive connected to a RocketRaid 2322, the card somehow de-initializes the drive. Kaput. Not salvageable (as far as I can tell as it wasn't seen by Disk Warrior).

I tested it out again by formatting the drive, copying some files to it and re-booting. Same thing happened again.

The other issue is that the computer wants to boot from the drive attached to the RocketRaid - it says something to the effect of "invalid boot disk." I have to unplug the drive and re-boot from scratch. I set it up in the BIOS to boot from the primary internal SSD drive. But it still wants to boot from it.

This sucks - I lost a lot of stuff. Nope, most of it wasn't backed up. Yep, I know I'm an idiot.

Anyway, moving forward, any recommendations? Is the 2322 just too old? If so, any card recommendations? I have SAS connectors with the 2322, so preferably something with that.

Here's my system specs:

Thanks for any insight.

Anyone? At the least, any recommends for another eSATA card?

Thx.

I have not solved the issue, but I have determined that the card will de-initialize a drive if it senses a Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume. Anything else and it seems to be ok.

Given that I must use Journaled volumes, I have no other option than to get rid of the card :(. Anyone out there have a recommendation for a good card?

I purchased this off recommendation on the site, but can't get it to work OOB.
