I finally got my build running and Lion working perfectly.

I was setting up my drives and accidentally formatted one I wasn't supposed to.

Question - It is now a mac partition. It was previously a ntfs partition. I am now using osx and trying to recover with Stellar Phoenix but can't seem to find the deleted ntfs partition.

Am I completely screwed? Any ideas?

I have no used / written to the drive except for the formatting.

I really, really hope I can recover this thing.

I believe formatting doesn't wipe the whole drive, but it does overwrite the 1st few sectors. So your info is most likely still there -- it is just inaccessible. You might also try partedmagic; it also has partition recovery.

You can also start searching at a particular offset for your data. For example if the whole drive was formatted as NTFS, with just one partition and using MBR, then the partition usually starts at sector 63. If that's the case, then you could copy the 1st 63 sectors (using dd) from another NTFS disk and see if that works. This is that manual way and it gets a little complicated.
